Egypt’s Higher Education Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar – the acting health minister – reviewed during a cabinet meeting under Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli the pandemic situation at the national and international levels.
He referred to the World Health Organisation’s announcement that Egypt will be a regional centre for manufacturing mRNA coronavirus vaccines in appreciation of Egypt’s achievements in the field of scientific research.
He noted that there are a number of positive indicators on the pandemic during the current month.
He said Egypt received 142.6 million vaccine doses in the period from December 2020 to February 2022, adding 30 million people were fully vaccinated.
About 986,000 booster shots have been administered so far.
