Egypt Post received the gold level in the international postal inspection review conducted by the Universal Postal Union on Egypt Post works, in terms of the application of postal security standards for international supply chains, and the commitment to implementing the Union’s strategy that aims to build the capacities of postal authorities in postal security field, during the Postal Operations Council meetings in the Swiss capital, Bern. Mr. Hatem El Soly, Head of Quality Division, Egypt Post and member of the Standards Board of the Universal Postal Union received the certificate from Mr. Masahiko Metoki, the Director General of the International Bureau of the Universal Postal Union.
Dr. Sharif Farouk, Chairman of Egypt Post said “this achievement confirms Egypt’s leadership in providing postal services and represents the clear success achieved by Egypt Post during the last period in achieving the sustainable postal development goals” noting that Egypt is the first country at Arab and African levels to receive the gold level in applying international postal security standards, which demonstrates Egypt Post’s commitment to international security standards including securing of postal dispatches, method of handling, transportation and all logistic phases that the dispatches go through, enhances its potentials to compete locally and internationally.
Dr. Sharif Farouk further explained that receiving the gold level for the first time in the field of postal security is a major achievement that came after a comprehensive inspection mission conducted by international experts from the Universal Postal Union on the performance of Egyptian Post, and the implementation of compliance main requirements, on top of them are ensuring safety of postal operations, health and safety of workers and customers, risk assessment and management to ensure a safe and sustainable work environment.
All operational processes used in handling postal dispatches were examined and the security monitoring processes of the Egypt Post Logistics Exchange Center at Cairo Int’l Airport were assessed, compared to the standards set by the Universal Postal Union, measuring security degrees at the level of international mail offices of exchange, airmail transport, and general measures of postal security.
Dr. Sharif Farouk added that Egypt Post receipt of the gold level in the international postal inspection review represents a high level appreciation for all postal employees for all their exerted efforts towards the implementation of the accreditation procedures for compliance with the Universal Postal Union security standards S58 and S59, praising the exerted efforts by Egypt Post employees and their dedication to work and achieving it according to highest levels of accuracy and quality to raise Egypt’s name high among all international postal authorities.
