CAIRO – Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli asserted that the Egyptian government is keen on expanding the range of South Korean investments in the different domains besides the current investments.

This came during Madbouli’s meeting with representatives of the most prominent 15 South Korean companies that work in the Egyptian market in the sectors of electronics, electric appliances, textiles, oil, gas, nuclear energy, iron and steel, petrochemicals, manufacturing subway locomotives and importing Egyptian agricultural products.

The meeting was attended by Minister of International Co-operation Rania el Mashat, Trade Minister Ahmed Samir, charge d’affairs of the South Korean ambassador in Egypt, Advisor of Minister of International Co-operation Abu Bakr Hanafy and a number of representatives of South Korean developmental agencies in Egypt.

Madbouli lauded the important role of the South Korean companies in the Egyptian market.

There is a strategic partnership between the Egyptian government sector and private sector on one hand and the their South Korean counterparts on the other hand, Madbouli said.

Madbouli urged the companies to present their work plans in Egypt, asserting his readiness to listen to the difficulties that face these companies and immediately work on solving them in coordination with the ministries and bodies concerned.

Madbouli reviewed the efforts of the state to improve the Egyptian economy and set the climate to attract foreign investments, pointing out that the government target investments in the different sectors, especially the industrial projects.

He asserted his keenness on pushing forward the cooperation relations with the South Korean companies to a higher level.

The representatives of the companies, including Samsung Electronics, LG, Hyundai Rotem and Hansan Global, presented an explanation on their current and future plans to expand their activities in the Egyptian market.

Madbouli gave directives to hold side meetings with the South Korean companies to discuss quick implementation to any new project that the companies are willing to implement in Egypt in the coming period and work on overcoming any hindrances that may face them.
