Egyptian Trade and Industry Minister Nevine Gamea issued a decision to form a new board of directors for the Egyptian Competition Authority (ECA) for 4 years under the chairmanship of Mahmoud Ahmed Momtaz.
In a statement Tuesday, the Ministry said that the decision will enter into force, a day after the date of its publication in the official gazette.
The decision came to promote the ECA’s role in entrenching the roles of fair competition, promoting market performance levels and putting an end to practices that harm the national economy, said the minister.
She, meanwhile, said that the decision would contribute to creating a climate conducive to investment and based on principles of free market.
The ECA plays a crucial role in supporting national industry and luring more investments into the Egyptian market along with providing equal opportunities between the various economic sectors, concluded the minister.
