From replicas of ancient artefacts to films showcasing beaches and diving sites, Egypt is putting its tourism offerings on display at World Travel Market (WTM) London, where it is the event’s principal partner for the first time.
Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy opened the Egyptian pavilion on Tuesday alongside UK Tourism Minister Stephanie Peacock after attending the opening ceremony of the travel trade fair.
The pavilion features replicas representing ancient Egyptian, Coptic and Islamic heritage, as well as large screens showing promotional films about the country’s destinations and visitor experiences.

Fathy said Egypt’s selection as principal partner reflected confidence in the country as a tourism destination and offered an opportunity to strengthen its standing in the global market.
The partnership extends beyond the exhibition itself, with promotional activity across London and efforts to expand co-operation with tourism industry partners, he added.
The ministers also viewed Egyptian advertising displayed on screens around the exhibition venue. Peacock expressed admiration for the artefact replicas and films highlighting Egypt’s beaches and diving sites, according to the Tourism and Antiquities Ministry.
Fathy met Egyptian exhibitors to discuss their tourism products and opportunities for co-operation with international partners. The ministry said he was also due to hold meetings with officials, industry representatives and media during his visit, including discussions on investment and cooperation with tour operators and airlines.
Egypt participates in the fair annually, with Britain and the wider European market among its key sources of visitors. The fair runs until November 5.
