Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held a phone call on Tuesday with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, as part of ongoing co-ordination between the two brotherly countries to contain regional escalation.
The two ministers discussed the latest regional developments amid continued escalation and heightened tensions, exchanging views on their respective efforts and diplomatic contacts to restore calm and prevent a new wave of military confrontations that could further exacerbate tensions, undermine stability and threaten regional peace and security.
They agreed on the importance of making every possible effort at this critical juncture to advance negotiations, exercise restraint, prioritise diplomacy and dialogue, and work towards de-escalation.
Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s unequivocal rejection and condemnation of any threat to the security of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states, stressing that their security is an integral part of Arab national security.
