NICOSIA – The Cypriot Foreign Ministry called on Sunday for deescalating the situation in East Jerusalem on the back of rising tensions.
On its Twitter account, the ministry called for calm and exercising self restraint and defusing tension in East Jerusalem.
It stressed that preserving holy places is a must.
On Friday morning, police clashed with Palestinians in the Al-Aqsa compound, drawing strong condemnation from Muslim countries.
The violence wounded some 150 people.(MENA)
