Sri Lanka Embassy in Cairo handed over to the New Administrative Capital‘s Arts and Culture City, on February 7, 2022, the first set of books representing Sri Lanka’s culture, history, biodiversity, and architecture.
Sri Lanka’s Ambassador M.K. Pathmanaathan and Director of Arts and Culture City of the New Capital Major General Mohamed El-Saadany attended the handing over ceremony.
The gifting is part of the celebrations marking the 74th Anniversary of Independence Day of Sri Lanka and meant to promoting cultural relations between the two countries.
Dr Zain Abdel-Hady, current supervisor of the Arts and Culture City, briefed the Ambassador on the concept of the City, which comprises an opera house, a museum and a library.
The importance of promoting cooperation in the fields of culture and arts between Sri Lanka and Egypt featured high during the ceremony, in a way that would pave the way for fostering people to people relations between the two counties.
For his part, Major General Saadany expressed the city’s keenness to explore horizons for cooperation in the field of culture and arts with Sri Lankan authorities.
