Sisi says constructing new cities “essential” to keep up with population growth

The president made the remarks during the inauguration ceremony of the first phase of New Mansoura City on Thursday.

President Sisi said the opening of New Mansoura City is part of an overall plan to construct 30 cities of the fourth generation in the Delta, Upper Egypt and the Suez Canal regions.

The president stated all world countries, including Egypt, are experiencing successive economic crises caused by the fallout from the coronavirus pandemic and the Russian-Ukrainian war.

He noted the State introduced a package of social protection procedures to mitigate the impacts of those challenges on low-income citizens.

The president said the State is also moving ahead with an economic plan for strengthening the local industry, reducing imports and luring foreign direct investments.
