Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem said the coming phase will witness a qualitative improvement in the performance of the Industrial Modernisation Centre (IMC) ensuring tangible results on the ground and enabling the Center to become a genuine partner in the development of national industry.

The minister stressed that current challenges require swift action and adherence to specific timelines, along with shortening procedural cycles and simplifying regulatory processes to achieve the fastest possible return for the industrial sector.

During the minister’s chairing of a meeting of the Board of Directors of the IMC, as part of efforts to monitor the centre’s performance, strengthen its role in supporting and developing the industrial sector, review current work plans and set priorities for the next phase – attended by Laila Shehata, Assistant Minister of Industry for Industrial Research and Development and Hazem Fahmy, Executive Director of the Industrial Modernisation Centre, the minister explained that the Industrial Modernisation Centre was established to play a pivotal role in developing the industrial sector, stressing the importance of precisely defining priorities and directing efforts to create added value for manufacturers.

Hashem also emphasised the importance of sustaining the Center’s performance by developing its operating model and refining its services to effectively serve factories.

The Ministry of Industry aims in the coming period to achieve a breakthrough in several vital files, foremost among them strengthening the link between scientific research and industry needs, activating communication channels with universities and research centres to transform research outputs into applicable industrial solutions, and expanding the use of artificial intelligence applications and modern technologies to keep pace with global developments, he said.

The minister revealed the Ministry’s intention to comprehensively restructure the Industrial Modernisation Center, both in terms of its organisational structure and service system, while providing effective financing and empowerment tools to place it on the right track. Hashem also announced the formation of a committee of experts and scholars from inside and outside Egypt, in coordination with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, to formulate practical ideas and initiatives to serve national industry, and to establish a clear mechanism for transferring these ideas to the private sector through the Centre, thereby achieving integration between scientific research and industrial application.

He said achieving the desired goals requires accelerating decision-making, speeding up implementation, and responding immediately to the needs of the industrial sector, affirming that working according to clear timelines and simplifying procedures are fundamental pillars for achieving tangible results in the shortest possible time.

During the meeting, the proposed work plan of the IMC was reviewed and its main pillars discussed with board members, with emphasis on ensuring that the plan stems from the government’s work programme, so as to achieve national targets and align with the priorities of the industrial sector, in addition to establishing clear mechanisms for follow-up and performance measurement.

At the end of the meeting the minister called for rallying efforts to coordinate with all relevant authorities and press ahead with realising tangible progress that would help reflect the State’s strategy in this regard.
