Minister of State for Military Production Salah Gomblatt affirmed on Thursday the ministry’s commitment to implementing directives of the political leadership aimed at maximising the utilisation of national capabilities and supporting the national economy through greater integration among state institutions.
Optimising the use of unused land, buildings and production lines within military production companies represents a significant opportunity to attract investment, localise advanced manufacturing technologies and increase the proportion of locally manufactured components, the minister said.
Gomblatt made the remark during a meeting with Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid, and emphasised the importance of strengthening co-operation between the two sides.
For his part, Minister Farid noted that such co-operation would support local manufacturing capabilities, deepen industrial development, increase exports and create employment opportunities across Egypt’s governorates.
He also praised the advanced capabilities of military production companies and stressed the importance of identifying, inventorying and professionally promoting investment opportunities and land assets belonging to the ministry through the investment map.
The state seeks to make serviced land and ready investment opportunities available across different governorates and economic sectors in order tolocalise development and avoid concentrating economic activity in limited geographical areas, Farid explained.
During the meeting, Minister Gomblatt reviewed the ministry’s industrial and technological capabilities, highlighting its advanced national industrial base and accumulated expertise, which enable it to meet the requirements of the Armed Forces and the Police while also utilising surplus production capacity to manufacture high-quality civilian products and implement national development projects.
The discussions between the two ministers also addressed opportunities to enhance industrial co-operation with Belarus in several sectors, particularly in light of the successful partnerships already established between military production companies and Belarusian firms
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to continue coordination and consultation to support sustainable economic development, strengthen the competitiveness of Egyptian industry and create an attractive environment for investment and production nationwide.
