Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar witnessed on Saturday the signing of a co-operation protocol between the National Council for Health Tourism and African Dream Company, owner of the multilingual media platform Zoom Africa News, to promote Egypt’s medical and wellness tourism across African markets.
The agreement supports Egypt’s efforts to become a leading regional and international destination for medical, therapeutic and wellness tourism.
The protocol was signed by Amr Sedky, secretary-general of the National Council for Health Tourism, and Sally Atef, chairperson of Zoom Africa News and its editor-in-chief.
The agreement provides a framework for joint media, marketing and awareness campaigns to promote Egypt’s healthcare services in African countries, Health Ministry Spokesperson Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said.
The partnership will use the platform’s Arabic, English and French-language services to reach audiences in markets with demand for medical treatment.
The campaigns will promote Egypt’s national health tourism platform, TOUR 4 CURE, and showcase accredited hospitals and medical centres, treatment and rehabilitation programmes, online booking and remote consultations.
The agreement also provides for joint forums and seminars in Egypt and other African countries, participation in medical and wellness exhibitions, and familiarisation visits for African health tourism agents and media professionals.
Other initiatives include establishing an African Media Centre for Health Tourism, launching an annual campaign titled “Egypt… Africa’s Health Tourism Destination”, producing documentaries and specialised reports, and issuing a monthly newsletter for African governments, embassies and healthcare institutions.
The two sides also plan to develop an interactive map linking healthcare needs in African countries with services available in Egypt, and introduce an annual award recognising outstanding Egyptian-African co-operation in health tourism.
Sally Atef said the agreement would help connect Egypt’s medical capabilities with pressing healthcare needs across Africa.
