CAIRO – Egypt’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Khaled Abdel Ghaffar announced that 58 Egyptian scientists won state awards in science and technology for 2021.
His announcement came during a press conference that he held on Thursday following a meeting of the 179th session of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT).
On his part, ASRT President Mahmoud Saqr said the 2021 state awards were given to 58 scientists, noting that the prizes’ value is LE5.7 million.
Saqr stated that seven scientists won the Excellency Award, while 44 others were awarded the Encouragement Award.
He added that the National Research Centre has the lion’s share with seven awards, followed by Mansoura University and Ain Shams University with six awards for each, Cairo University with 5 awards and Assiut University with four awards, as well as Aswan University and the Egyptian Petroleum Research Institute with three awards.
Saqr noticed that Benha University, Alexandria University, the Egyptian Atomic Energy Authority, Zewail City for Science and Technology, and Helwan University won two prizes.
