The Ministry of State for Military Production is stepping up efforts to accelerate implementation of projects of the presidential “Hayah Karima” (Decent Life) initiative, with strict measures being taken against contractors failing to meet their obligations and scheduled deadlines.
Work has been withdrawn from 34 contractors deemed uncommitted to carrying out the projects assigned to them under the initiative, Minister Salah Suleiman Gomblat said.
Gomblat held a meeting on Tuesday with officials from the ministry and the National Authority for Military Production, which reviewed the latest developments in Decent Life projects being carried out by military production companies.
The meeting examined work progress, the status of projects nearing completion and those still under way, as well as the actual completion rates compared with the approved timetables.
The decision to withdraw work from the 34 contractors was part of efforts to ensure adherence to the established schedules and targeted implementation rates, accelerate project completion and achieve the initiative’s objectives of improving living standards in the targeted villages, Minister Gomblat said.
The meeting also reviewed the work completed in recent months, the availability of construction requirements and co-ordination among the relevant authorities to ensure that projects are completed on time.
The minister stressed the need to deal firmly and seriously with any challenges that could hinder progress, take swift action to remove obstacles and intensify regular field inspections of project sites.
He also called for zero tolerance of unjustified delays, stressing that implementing presidential directives required stepped-up efforts, teamwork and the highest levels of efficiency and achievement at all stages of implementation.
Gomblat affirmed that Decent Life projects were a top priority for the ministry, as they form key part of the country’s most important national projects aimed at improving citizens’ quality of life and upgrading services in targeted villages.
The ministry is committed to mobilising its manufacturing, engineering and technical capabilities, along with its accumulated expertise, to contribute effectively to achieving the initiative’s goals in line with the state’s vision of comprehensive and sustainable development, he said.
The minister directed officials to maintain close monitoring of all projects and prepare regular reports detailing actual completion rates, implementation progress, obstacles encountered and the measures taken to address them.
He also called for clearly assigning responsibilities and setting specific deadlines for completing outstanding works to ensure compliance with the approved schedules and translate plans into tangible achievements that citizens can see and feel on the ground.
