The latest regional developments and ongoing efforts to de-escalate tensions were at the centre of a telephone conversation on Tuesday between Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptian Expatriates, Badr Abdelatty, and his Omani counterpart, Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi.
The call focused on efforts to reduce tensions and spare the region the devastating consequences of war, which would have severe political, economic and humanitarian repercussions for both the region and the world at large, Egyptian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nader Zaki said.
The two ministers agreed to continue consultations and take the necessary steps to prevent a resumption of military operations and steer the crisis back towards a political settlement through negotiations between the parties concerned, Zaki added.
