CAIRO – The trade exchange between Egypt and Greece jumped by 112.8 per cent in the first half of 2021 recording 1 billion dollars against 477.6 million dollars in the same period of 2020.
The Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS) said in a statement Tuesday the Egyptian exports to Greece amounted amounted to 807.4 million dollars in the first half of 2021 against 273.8 million dollars in the same period of 2020 with a 194.9 per cent rise.
According to the statement, Egyptian imports from Greece reached 209.1 million dollars from 203.8 recording a 2.6 per cent increase.
The remittances of Egyptian expatriates in Greece reached 8.4 million dollars in fiscal year 2018/2019 compared to 7.1 million dollars in fiscal year 2018/2017 while the remittances of Greek citizens working in Egypt reached 2.2 million dollars, the statement read.
It added that the number of Egyptians working in Greece reached 30,000 in 2020.
The population of Egypt reached 102.5 million in 2021 while the population of Greece stood at 10.4 million in 2021.
