Minister of Social Solidarity and Chairperson of Nasser Social Bank, Maya Morsy, launched on Saturday a financing programme called “A Launch Towards Economic Empowerment” (Intilaqa Nahwa al-Tamkeen al-Iqtisadi).
The new financing programme offers loans ranging from LE5,000 to LE30,000 for beneficiaries of Egypt’s Takaful and Karama programme to establish or expand micro-enterprises.
Morsy said the initiative follows the bank’s integration into the Ministry’s Tamkeen digital platform, which connects eligible individuals capable of working with a range of services, including financing, training, awareness programmes, employment support, marketing, and insurance.
The platform operates through co-operation between government entities, banks, the private sector, and civil society organisations.
The initiative aims to help beneficiaries transition from social protection programmes to productive economic participation.
Applications can be submitted through the Tamkeen platform, while supporting documents may be filed at most Nasser Social Bank branches and Egypt Post offices nationwide.
For his part, Walid El-Nahas, Vice Chairman of Nasser Social Bank, said the financing covers agricultural, industrial, commercial, and service activities, as well as home-based businesses, enabling beneficiaries to choose projects that match their skills and market opportunities.
To qualify, applicants must be between 21 and 60 years old at the time the financing is granted. Loans are repayable in monthly instalments over a period of one to three years, with financing amounts determined by project requirements and the applicant’s repayment capacity.
