CAIRO – Egyptian Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Mohamed Abdel Aati said that his ministry has already completed the rehabilitation of more than 5,000 kilometres of irrigation canals in different governorates.
This is part of Egypt’s canal rehabilitation and lining project, said the minister during a meeting with leaderships of the ministry.

The project aims at rehabilitating canals, with a length of up to 20,000 kilometres.
The rehabilitation of irrigation canals falls within the Irrigation Ministry’s plan to stimulate the comprehensive development process for the water system, the statement said.
The plan also aims at applying modern irrigation system and using smart irrigation applications, it added.
