Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh el-Hefny highlighted women’s empowerment as a vital driver for the growth and safety of Egypt’s aviation industry.

During the launch of a high-level workshop organised in collaboration with the British Ministry of Transport, the Minister emphasised that investing in human capital is the essential foundation for achieving world-class performance.

The workshop, titled “Empowering women: A transition to aviation security,” reflects the Egyptian state’s commitment to integrating women into specialised, high-stakes roles in accordance with international standards.

El-Hefny noted that empowering women is more than just a social goal, it is a strategic necessity for the modern aviation sector.

He explained that increasing women’s participation in security and safety roles is critical for enhancing performance efficiency and ensuring sustainable development.

By providing regular, high-quality training programmes, Egypt aims to make women active partners in comprehensive development, ultimately boosting the sector’s competitiveness on both a regional and international level.

The event featured an in-depth dialogue session involving Head of the Central Department of Air Transport Salma El-Tahhan alongside distinguished female leaders from the United Kingdom.

This session explored how the modern aviation industry requires leaders who are flexible, safety-focused, and capable of managing teams under pressure.

El-Tahhan noted that women have already proven their ability to excel across the industry, moving beyond simple representation to become active participants who contribute diverse perspectives and innovative ideas to the field.

The two-day workshop served as a major hub for expertise exchange, bringing together specialists from the UK Civil Aviation Authority, international airlines, and Egyptian security officials.

The comprehensive training programme combined theoretical knowledge with practical skills, focusing on international regulatory frameworks such as the Chicago Convention and ICAO security audits.

Participants also studied modern airport screening technologies, risk analysis, and conflict management, further strengthening the strategic partnership between Egypt and the UK in the field of aviation security.
