Egyptian Culture Minister Inas Abdel Dayem reviewed mechanisms of implementing several cultural programs within the upcoming period to hold celebrations to mark Cairo’s designation as the “Capital of Culture in the Islamic World” in 2022.
All sectors of the Culture Ministry will cooperate in creating the ministry’s cultural programme.
Seminars, artistic shows, folklore performances, handicraft exhibitions are among the activities that will kick off next Sunday at 9:00 pm.
The celebrations are scheduled to run for an entire year from the launching date, with the participation of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO).
The upcoming period will witness several events that will present a true image of the Intellectual and artistic movement in society, said the minister during a meeting she held with the heads of different departments of the Culture Ministry.
ISESCO adopted the program of the Capital of Islamic Culture, which is assigned annually to three ancient Islamic cities and one for each of the three Islamic regions of the Arab World, Africa and Asia.
ISESCO was founded by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in May 1979. With 54 member states, ISESCO is one of the largest international Islamic organizations and specializes in the fields of education, science and culture.
