CAIRO – Egypt’s Social Solidarity Ministry has started issuing a colored integrated services cards for people with disabilities.
In a statement released on Thursday, the ministry said it set blue for severe disabilities, green for moderate disabilities and purple for mild disabilities.
The ministry had previously announced that persons with severe disabilities applying for the new card would be exempted from conducting an automated medical examination at the Ministry of Health and Population.
The card enables its holders to receive two pensions, get integrated into schools and universities, get hired in all government bodies with a rate of 5%, get exempted from paying custom duties on prosthetics and cars, as well as gain tax exemptions.
Disabled people who have the integrated services card can conduct free medical check-ups in hospitals and get an adequate government housing unit, in addition to receiving discounts on means of transportation and subscribing to youth centers and sports clubs.
