The General Institution for Social Solidarity provided more than LE21 million in financial assistance to over 42,000 beneficiaries during the first half of 2026, while also delivering in kind assistance and financial grants worth more than LE15 million to more than 8,000 beneficiaries during holidays and special occasions.
The institution’s Board of Trustees also approved an increase in the value of financial assistance starting from the 2026/2027 fiscal year.
The figures were reviewed during a meeting of the Board of Trustees on Tuesday, chaired by Minister of Social Solidarity and Chairperson of the Board, Maya Morsi, which examined the institution’s efforts and services provided between January 1 and June 30 this year, through its headquarters and 27 branches across Egypt.
The meeting also discussed a number of organisational measures aimed at developing the institution’s operations. These included reviewing the progress of all economic empowerment projects, as well as the upgrading of technological infrastructure, information systems, and protection and security measures for the economic empowerment and microfinance system.
It is worth noting that the General Institution for Social Solidarity aims to provide support to all groups not covered by the Social Security Law or health insurance.
It provides various forms of assistance, including financial support for individual cases, people with chronic diseases, widows, divorced women, abandoned women, and those with no or limited income, as well as urgent cases. The institution also provides assistive devices for persons with disabilities and other forms of support.
The institution has 27 branches across Egypt.
