Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi followed up the executive situation of the “Egypt’s Future” project for agricultural production, as part of the mega national project of the New Delta, which aims to reclaim of 2.2 million feddans.

This came during President Sisi’s meeting with Air Force Commander Lieutenant-General Muhammad Abbas Helmy, Presidential Advisor for Urban Planning Major General Amir Sayed Ahmed, and “Egypt’s Future” project Director Lieutenant Colonel Pilot Bahaa Eddin el-Ghannam, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said.

In this context, President Sisi was briefed on the executive situation of the “Egypt’s Future” project with all its components, especially with regard to the paths of water metered access from irrigation water, as well as the project’s water desalination plant, in addition to the agricultural mechanisation and agricultural industrialisation system, as well as future development plans.

According to the spokesman, President Sisi gave orders to expand the activities of the “Egypt’s Future” project so that it can be carried out within a comprehensive and integrated framework, to realise optimal benefit from state assets and the available resources, especially agricultural land and water.

In this way, the project will serve as a locomotive for agricultural development, through the adoption of the concept of giant agricultural entities that are capable of making a qualitative leap in the modern agricultural sector, besides achieving food security, as well as relying on state of the art technology in agriculture and irrigation.

President Sisi also gave directives that “Egypt’s Future” project must focus on the cultivation of strategic crops to bridge the import gap, Radi said.

He also ordered that all production activities associated with agriculture would be included in the projects to achieve added value of its productivity.

The presidential directives also included the establishment of an integrated agricultural manufacturing complex to achieve self-sufficiency of production requirements, as well as the system of factories, silos and coolers needed for the work of this giant project, Radi added.
