Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has said Egypt closely follows up on updates in the Middle East and the Palestinian arena, highlighting that the current escalation has tremendous repercussions that could harm the security and stability of the Middle East region.
In statements on Tuesday, the president said Egypt is in direct contact with all parties involved to stop the military confrontations, halt bloodshed of the Palestinians, and protect the civilians from both the Palestinian and Israeli sides.
He said: “Egypt believes just and comprehensive peace, based on the two-state solution, is the only way to achieve real and sustainable security for the Palestinian people.”
Egypt remains committed to its Arab causes and would never let go the Palestinian case at the expense of other parties, the president said.
He continued: “We are communicating with all international powers and influential regional parties in order to reach an immediate cessation of violence and achieve a truce that protects the blood of the civilians, from both sides.”
Sisi said Egypt’s national security is his first top priority, noting: “There should be no complacency or negligence in Egypt’s national security issues under any circumstances.”
“The Egyptians must be aware of the complexities of the situation, and volumes of the threats,” he concluded.
