President Abdel Fattah El Sisi stressed Egypt’s support for Fahmy’s candidacy and stressed that the region is currently facing unprecedented challenges that require strengthening joint Arab action and activating the role of the League of Arab States as the primary framework for defending the interests of Arab states and peoples, Presidency Spokesman Mohamed El-Shennawy said.
Fahmy expressed his deep appreciation and gratitude for the president’s support, emphasising his aspiration to enhance the League’s performance and develop a forward-looking strategic vision capable of addressing the pressing challenges facing Arab national security.
He also highlighted the importance of strengthening the League’s role in the economic and social spheres to enable it to fulfil its mission, El-Shennawy added.
Sisi also reiterated Egypt’s commitment to playing a constructive role in promoting peaceful solutions to regional crises, pointing to the growing number of conflict zones and escalating violations of international law.
He underlined that these developments carry serious implications for Arab national security and increase the responsibilities of the League of Arab States, particularly in developing effective tools to address regional transformations and formulating more unified and influential Arab positions.
