Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli chaired a meeting on Sunday to follow up President Abdel Fattah ElSisi’s directives to expand digital transformation as a tool to safeguard public money and improve the efficiency of state institutions.

The meeting brought together the ministers of finance, communications, investment and foreign trade, justice, and planning, along with senior officials.

Madbouli stressed that the government is holding regular sessions to ensure the presidential assignments announced at the inauguration of Egypt’s strategic command headquarters are implemented swiftly and within clear timelines.

The aim is to strengthen governance, digitize state resource management, and move toward smart administration that supports decision-making and sustainable development goals, he said.

Communications Minister Raafat Hindi presented the digital transformation framework, which focuses on upgrading government performance, simplifying procedures, and expanding digital services while ensuring secure data integration across ministries. He noted that 105 government bodies have already been linked through the state’s digital gateway, and 100 national databases are now connected.

The “Digital Egypt” platform currently offers 242 services, with 20 million transactions carried out since the start of 2026, Hindi noted.

Key enablers include a unified digital identity, electronic signature services, a government digital switch, and the rollout of a digital treasury model. Work is also underway on a national digital mailbox system.

Priority sectors for digitisation include business services, social protection, health, education, justice, civil services, real estate, food security, and labor.

Finance Minister Ahmed Kojok underlined the importance of digitising services to simplify access for citizens and ensure transparency. Investment Minister Mohamed Farid highlighted proposals to strengthen governance in companies and funds through electronic systems.

Planning Minister Ahmed Rostom pointed to mobile service centers being expanded nationwide, while Justice Minister Mahmoud El-Sherif reviewed draft laws to protect state assets and enforce rights, including through electronic applications.

Madbouli concluded by directing the ministers to prepare a clear action plan with specific mechanisms to accelerate implementation of the presidential mandate on digital transformation.
