Fresh NACDW initiatives to lighten economic hardships

The National Alliance for Civil Development Work (NACDW) has launched a number of social initiatives that meet the needs of Egyptians nationwide.

The aim of these initiatives is to improve living conditions of citizens, coinciding with the celebrations of the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) Birthday and the October War Victory.

The NACDW launched the Prophet’s Birthday initiative, at a total cost of LE215 million.

The Egyptian Zakat and Charity House announced the disbursement of an additional LE600 to the monthly salary of 110,000 families, at a total cost of LE66 million, while the Orman Association distributed 1,300 tonnes of meat worth LE130 million to 1000,000 families.

The Arabi Foundation for Social Development granted an additional half-month bonus for 10,000 families, distributing 37,000 food cartons to 37,000 families, at a cost of about LE9 million.

The Abu El-Enein Foundation distributed the Prophet’s birthday sweets to 120,000 most deserving families, in Giza and Upper Egypt at a cost of LE12 million.

The Decent Life Foundation established the NACDW on March 13, 2022 to ensure effective engagement of civil society institutions in developing communities and meeting their legitimate needs in service, health, education, awareness, and urban fields.

The alliance comprises 24 associations, civil society organisations, and service and developmental entities.

In a recent post on its page on Facebook, Decent Life said the door is open for any NGO to join the alliance to serve Egypt’s Vision 2030, noting that the alliance’s establishment came in implementation of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives to announce 2022 as the year of civil society.

Amid the current global economic crisis, the alliance is working hard to focus on the enhancement of social protection programmes in the coming period.

Representatives of Decent Life Foundation, Bait Al-Zakat Foundation, Al-Joud Foundation, Al-Orman Charity Association, Egyptian Food Bank, Misr El-Kheir, Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation, and the National Cancer Institute inked the alliance’s charter.

Officials from the Coptic Evangelical Organisation for Social Services, Baheya Foundation, Ahl Masr Foundation, Life Makers Foundation, Raie Misr Organisation, Resala Charity Organisation, Al-Baqyat Al-Salehat Association, the Egyptian Liver Association and Cairo University Hospitals also signed the charter, together with El-Araby Foundation for Social Development, Sonaa El Kheir Foundation, Dr Mostafa Mahmoud Charity Association, and CARE Egypt Foundation.
