Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, President–designate of the UN Climate Change Conference 2022 (UNFCCC COP 27) held talks on Wednesday with Germany’s State Secretary and Special Envoy for International Climate Action Jennifer Morgan.
During the meeting, Foreign Minister Shoukry voiced hope that Germany would carry on with its effective role in enhancing global climate action, at the bilateral and multilateral levels, over the coming period, which is expected to witness several international high-level meetings and events as part of preparations for COP27 due to be held in the Egyptian Red Sea resort city of Sharm el Sheikh, November 2022, under Egypt’s chair, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Hafez said.
He added that Shoukry reiterated keenness to maintain consultations with all the parties concerned with the global climate action, and listen to their views on the relevant issues, Hafez said.
This objective is to boost co-operation in a way that would help the Sharm conference come out with results that would take into account the priorities of all climate-concerned parties, he noted.
