Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and his Kuwaiti counterpart, Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, discussed regional developments in a telephone call on Friday, Egypt’s foreign ministry said.
The call was part of ongoing coordination between the two sides over developments in the region amid continuing escalation, ministry spokesman Ambassador Nader Zaki said.
The ministers reviewed current efforts and initiatives to restore calm and prevent a new wave of military confrontations that would intensify the threats and risks facing countries across the region, he added.
They also agreed on the importance of intensifying efforts and contacts with all parties concerned to urge them to avoid escalatory steps that could complicate matters.
The ministers stressed the need to prioritise dialogue and diplomacy, show the flexibility necessary to advance de-escalation, give precedence to negotiations and support political processes, in a way that serves the interests of all parties and strengthens regional security and stability.
