Egypt’s Defense Minister Mohamed Zaki met Wednesday with his visiting French counterpart Sébastien Lecornu to discuss bilateral relations and the latest regional developments.
Zaki said he greatly appreciates military cooperation between Egypt and France, stressing the need for unifying international efforts to stop the escalation and protect civilian lives in Gaza. It is of equal importance to secure the flow of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people in Gaza, the Egyptian minister affirmed.
The meeting took up the impact of the current crisis in Gaza, especially in terms of the security and stability of the Middle East.
The French minister praised efforts exerted by Egypt in dealing with the crisis in line with international legitimacy resolutions. He was particularly pleased with action taken to ease the delivery of aid through the Rafah Terminal to Gaza.
Lecornu said Paris and Cairo share views regarding different issues that contribute to supporting the pillars of security and stability in the region.
