Egypt’s Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Co-operation, Rania Al-Mashat met on Wednesday in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, with Mohamad Maliki Osman, Second Minister for Foreign Affairs and Education of Singapore.

They discussed future mutual co-operation priorities in light of strong bilateral relations between the two countries as Cairo focuses on human development and industrial localisation.

Minister Al-Mashat has praised the longstanding Egyptian-Singaporean relations, which are characterised by consultation and joint coordination across all levels.

Both countries share a mutual interest in developing these relations, having signed numerous partnership agreements over the past four decades that have enhanced development partnerships in various economic, trade, investment, and cultural sectors.

The two officials highlighted the Egyptian government’s efforts to attract investments through various incentives, with structural reform policies aimed at empowering the private sector to lead development.

They praised the improvement in Egypt’s economic indicators over the past period as a result of state efforts and measures in this regard. The Egyptian government continues to consolidate the foundations of economic recovery, empower the private sector, and build a resilient economy by enhancing overall economic stability and increasing employment rates.

Al-Mashat also highlighted strong partnerships with multilateral and bilateral development partners, including strategic partnerships with the European Union, the World Bank Group, and the African Development Bank, through which numerous development projects are being implemented.

For his part, Osman praised Cairo’s role amidst the unstable geopolitical conditions in the region, expressing his aspiration to explore investment opportunities in Egypt in light of the country’s ongoing reforms and incentives provided to the private sector, particularly within the Suez Canal Economic Zone.
