In a unanimous decision, member states of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) have renewed Egypt’s presidency of the General Conference for a new term during the 15th session held in Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan.
The move reflects continued confidence in Egypt’s role within multilateral frameworks and acknowledges the efforts led by Higher Education Minister Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, who also chairs Egypt’s National Commission for Education, Science and Culture. Over the past four years, Egypt has actively supported joint Islamic cooperation and advanced initiatives in education, science, and culture.
The consensus also highlighted the effective coordination by Egypt’s national commission, strengthening the country’s presence within ICESCO. Alongside Egypt’s renewed presidency, Senegal was elected Vice President of the General Conference, while the Maldives was chosen as Rapporteur.
