Egypt rejects Israeli calls for displacement of Palestinians or pushing them towards the Egyptian borders, Heba Shoukry, a researcher at the Egyptian Centre For Strategic Studies told the Egyptian Gazette.

“Egypt has always been a mediator between Palestine and Israel and it called for non-violence, ” she added. “However, by evacuating Palestinians, Israel aims at emptying Gaza Strip from its residents and denying providing them safe corridors”.

“Neither Egypt nor the Palestinians accept these calls,” Shoukry added.

Israel has announced a total blockade of the Gaza Strip two days after fighters from the Hamas group infiltrated Israel from Gaza by land, sea and air. The blockade has left more than 2 million people in Gaza without electricity, water, or fuel.

“Egypt condemns Israel’s war crimes against Palestinians and violation of the International Humanitarian Law. This will expand the crisis,” Shoukry added.

“Benjamin Netanyahu’s insistence on adopting extremist policies affects the stability of the whole region,” she explained.

Israeli media said deaths from Saturday’s Hamas attacks had reached 900. Gaza’s health ministry said Israel’s retaliatory strikes had killed at least 770 people and wounded more than 4,000.
