CAIRO, – Egyptian ambassador in Beijing Essam Hanafi said Wednesday Egypt is one of the most important tourist destinations for Chinese tourists.
The diplomat’s statements came during a celebration organized by the Egyptian embassy in Beijing, in cooperation with the regional office of EgyptAir in China, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the launch of EgyptAir’s first flights to China.
A large number of senior Chinese officials and major tourist companies and representatives of media outlets participated in the celebration.
Giving a word on this occasion, the Egyptian diplomat said that the number of direct flights between Egypt and China has increased recently.
Egypt is currently linked by direct airlines to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hangzhou and Chengdu, making China the largest station for EgyptAir in Asia, he further noted.
The Egyptian Tourism Ministry announced that it aims to increase the number of Chinese tourists to Egypt to reach 3 million tourists annually by 2028, he said.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry said on its official Facebook page that the Egyptian ambassador’s call Chinese friends to visit Egypt and its historical and tourist destinations in the coming period with the beginning of the Chinese New Year; also called Spring Festival.
For their part, participants from the Chinese side in the celebration expressed their appreciation of the Egyptian-Chinese ties and efforts made to increase the number of direct flights between Egypt and China
