Minister of Defence and Military Production Gen Mohamed Zaki received on Tuesday the visiting Commander of the US Central Command, Lieutenant General Michael Corella, and his accompanying delegation.
The meeting discussed various topics of mutual interest, particularly the ongoing regional and international developments, notably the crisis in the Gaza Strip, Armed Forces spokesman said in a statement.
During the meeting, General Zaki emphasised the robust and enduring ties between the Egyptian and American armed forces across diverse military domains.
He also underscored the importance of concerted efforts among all stakeholders in the international community to achieve calm and ceasefire in the Gaza war, and ensure unfettered delivery of humanitarian aid through the Rafah border crossing to alleviate the dire conditions facing Palestinians in Gaza.
General Corella, for his part, commended Egypt’s pivotal role in fostering security and stability in the region. He lauded Egypt’s endeavours in addressing the Gaza crisis and affirmed his country’s commitment to strengthening the strategic partnership and continuous coordination between the Egyptian and American armed forces.
Furthermore, the Chief-of-Staff Lieutenant General Osama Askar also met Lieutenant General Michael Corella, to discuss ways to bolster military co-operation between the two nations.
