CAIRO – As part of his first visit in 2022 and first as COP President, Alok Sharma Sunday concluded a visit to Egypt, the host of #COP27.
Whilst in Cairo, Sharma had meetings with key government ministers, including Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly, and Egypt’s COP President Designate, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, to boost the UK-Egypt green partnership, a statement by the UK Embassy here said.
Sharma proudly announced the expansion of the UK Government’s ‘Climate Finance Accelerator’ (CFA) Programme in Egypt to support climate projects in the country.
He also met with business leaders from the private sector pursuing green initiatives in Egypt to discuss how they can help in making COP27 successful.
The COP President is now heading to the UAE to meet with its Crown Prince and key ministers to discuss preparations for COP28, which will take place in 2023.
