Egypt’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Abdel-Aziz Qansowa, held discussions on Monday with Professor Michael Hoch, President of the University of Bonn and President of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), at the ministry’s headquarters in the New Capital.

During the meeting, part of Egypt’s strategy to expand international co-operation and adopt advanced educational models, the minister underscored the deep rooted bilateral ties, which offer a successful model of international collaboration in higher education, scientific research, and innovation.

He also highlighted the state’s commitment to expanding global academic partnerships and attracting leading international institutions.

This approach facilitates knowledge transfer, enhances the quality of education, and equips graduates with skills suited to regional and global labour markets, he said.

The minister further noted that Egypt’s higher education system is undergoing significant development, driven by a vision centred on innovation, curriculum modernisation, and increased global competitiveness.

For his part, Professor Hoch welcomed the ongoing co-operation, affirming the University of Bonn’s commitment to strengthening ties with Egyptian institutions, supporting joint initiatives, and promoting innovation, with particular emphasis on empowering young researchers and advancing fundamental research.

Discussions addressed dual-degree programmes, research collaboration, academic exchange, and linking research outputs to industry.
