CAIRO – Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tareq el Mulla said the current boom in using natural gas as a fuel for cars has resulted from the State’s economic reform vision and reforming fuel prices, which maximized citizens’ financial savings from natural gas as a high-quality fuel whose cost is over 50 percent less than that of gasoline.
Mulla made the remarks as he inaugurated on Friday the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for natural gas refueling stations that are affiliated with the Egyptian International Gas Technology Corp (Gastec).
The new system comes within the framework of the petroleum sector development and modernization strategy aimed at expanding digital transformation, which contributes to raising the efficiency of natural gas refueling stations, the minister said.
Those stations are now serving a large number of car users, he added.
