Egypt’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ayman Ashour asserted the importance of holding “Science Day” as part of activities of the 27th United Nations Climate Conference, COP27, to forward a clear message about the significance of science and IT technologies, along with intensifying applied scientific researches to face bad impacts of climate change worldwide.
Ashour was speaking while inaugurating the “Science Day” Saturday, in the presence of Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad and a galaxy of heads of universities, experts and scholars on the sidelines of COP27, currently in session in Sharm El Sheikh.
The higher education minister pointed out to tireless efforts exerted by universities, institutes and research centers in Egypt to support climate action.
To attain the target, efforts are further focused on implementing several important research projects and raising awareness of university students about the importance of this vital issue, he said.
He commended efforts of the political leadership that is prioritizing the file of climate change.
In turn, Fouad affirmed science is important as a “weapon” to confront the negative effects of climate change on the planet.
