Egypt’s convening of the UN Climate Conference with the backing of the political leadership against the background of an international economic crisis is a start on the road to sustained climate and environmental action.
This statement by Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment and ministerial coordinator and envoy for the 27th session of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP27) came during a meeting with members of the parliamentary Energy, Environment and Manpower committees to review the outcomes of COP27.
The minister also reviewed energy initiatives that will be declared during COP28 in UAE.
Fouad said that her ministry had established the Green Investment and Climate Unit to develop the best ways to integrate the private sector in climate action in accordance with ministry instructions to that effect.
She spoke of coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to define issues to be discussed during the coming period with the United Arab Emirates to guarantee the success of COP28.
