TUNIS – Tunisian President Kais Saied and French President Emmanuel Macron have underscored the need to put an end to the war in Gaza immediately, TAP news agency reported.

They discussed a number of issues during a telephone conversation, including bilateral relations, Tunisia’s relations with the European Union and the rapid changes taking place in the world today.

Saied stressed Tunisia’s desire to deal with all partners on an equal footing and to address all issues with a new approach based on common interests and new shared humanitarian values, according to a statement from the Presidency.

Saied said that the influx of irregular migrants from sub-Saharan Africa is abnormal and that concerted efforts are being made to dismantle the criminal networks behind this situation, which are networks trafficking in human beings and their organs and distributing cash to these irregular migrants.

“The poverty and misery of these migrants was not caused by Tunisia and Tunisia does not accept them to settle there, which is unacceptable and suspicious,” the president was quoted as saying in the same statement.

The genocidal war against the Palestinian people and the need for an immediate end to this war were among the most important issues discussed at length.

In this context, the Tunisian president pointed out that the humanitarian community is now ahead of the international community and that international legitimacy is no longer legitimate for all humanity.
