Informa Markets, the world’s largest exhibition organizer, launched the first-ever Cityscape 2021 Virtual Conference in Egypt with high-ranking industry professionals and private sector contributors addressing a wide range of real estate topics under the theme ‘Reset, Recovery & Rebound: A Plan for the Next Decade’.
The high-level two-day conference was opened by Chris Speller, Group Director of Cityscape and Fathallah Fawzy, Co-Founder of MENA Group and Chairman of the Cityscape Egypt Conference, who delivered a robust industry update on Egypt’s post-pandemic economic recovery, and how the real estate will facilitate local and foreign investment.
In keeping with the future-proofing theme of the conference agenda, a session titled ‘The Future Economy of Egypt: Spotlight on why Egypt is open for business’ was led by Fawzy and included panelists Antoine El Khoury, Managing Director, Tameer and Karim Helal, Country Director, Colliers – Egypt. The trio explored investor needs in the current economic backdrop and, looking further afield, discussed a multitude of major factors shaping the future of the global economy.
El Khoury said: “We have noticed the extent of the effort exerted by the leadership in Egypt to support investments. When looking at the volume of global investments in the income-generating real estate sector, USD762 billion, compared to Egypt’s USD450 million, it’s apparent that the country needs to be promoted more to be placed on the map of global investment.”
With day one of the virtual conference laying industry markers and setting the stage for this year’s live edition of Cityscape in Egypt, which will celebrate its 10th anniversary outing from 22-25 September at the Egypt International Exhibition Center (EIEC), Faariss Khalil, Exhibition Manager for Cityscape, said: “As a unique industry platform that fixes global industry eyes on Egypt, the virtual conference unitesa strong line up of 36 speakers made up of regional and international experts across two days and six hours of engaging content to discuss challenges, opportunities and solutions for the Egyptian property market across – it is the perfect precursor to our live event in September.
