Egypt’s Agriculture and Land Reclamation Minister El Sayed el Quseir discussed with Somali Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources Ahmed Adam Hassan ways of boosting bilateral co-operation in the fish wealth development and management.

During the meeting, the agriculture minister highlighted President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives to provide all forms of support to the African countries.

For his part, the Somali minister congratulated Egypt over the outstanding organisation of the 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP27.

The meeting also tackled a host of issues related to the fish wealth file and how to provide support to this important sector in Somalia.

An agreement was reached to provide the necessary technical support and training to Somalia for the development of its fishing industry and protection of its coasts and marine resources.

The agriculture minister further said that Egypt is ready to transfer its expertise to Somalia in many areas, including fishing tuna, processing, packaging, and exporting as well as net-making and boat-building and repair.

At the end of the meeting, the two ministers agreed to update the memoranda of understanding (MoUs) signed between Egypt and Somalia in 2015.
