The Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Tuesday witnesses the Heads of State Summit for the launch of the Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East (EMME) Climate Change Initiative (EMME-CCI).

Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades takes part in the session, which comes on the fringe of the 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27), held in Sharm el-Sheikh from November 6 to 18.

Addressing the Heads of State Summit for the launch of the Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East (EMME) Climate Change Initiative (EMME-CCI) held on fringe of COP27 on Tuesday, Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades affirmed that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi attaches great importance to confronting the adverse impacts of climate change.

Cyprus is committed to joining hands with all countries in confronting the climate change crisis, he added.

The Cypriot president extended deep gratitude to President Sisi for his interest in COP27 UN Climate Change Conference.

Egypt’s hosting of the climate conference reflects its keenness on the climate change issue and its repercussions, he added.

The climate change affects every country around the world, he said, underling the need of exerting more efforts to put an end to reduce the risk of fires in forests, as well as to address the causes of drought and floods.

Jordan will take all measures needed to counter climate change, its prime minister assured Tuesday.

Addressing the Heads of State Summit for the launch of the Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East (EMME) Climate Change Initiative (EMME-CCI) held on fringe of COP27 on Tuesday, Bishr al Khasawnah said all measures would be taken without undermining national interests.

Khasawnah is in the Egyptian Red Sea resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh to attend the international climate conference, COP27, which kicked off here on Sunday.

Jordan is firmly moving toward using clean energy, he told the gathering, stressing that a comprehensive and clear strategy was outlined with the aim to transform to the green economy.
