President orders committee to select master’s, PhD holders for gov’t training
The House of Representatives (the lower chamber of parliament) will hold a plenary session on Sunday, the parliament’s General Secretariat said on Saturday.
In a statement, the secretariat said the session had been scheduled in response to a request from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
The announcement follows Sisi’s remarks on Saturday reaffirming Egypt’s support for the security of Saudi Arabia and Gulf states, during a graduation ceremony for new classes of Egyptian military academies and colleges.
He called for an emergency parliamentary session to consider authorisation for any intervention requested by Saudi Arabia to defend itself.
President Sisi also directed House of Representatives Speaker Hisham Badawy to form a committee to select master’s and PhD degree holders for training to prepare them for positions in state institutions.
In his remarks at a graduation ceremony at the Egyptian Military Academy in the New Capital on Saturday, Sisi said that the committee would include lawmakers, politicians, experts and intellectuals.
He added that selected candidates would undergo 30 months of training at the academy to prepare them for government responsibilities across various sectors.
The president explained that the programme aims to prepare qualified professionals to take up positions in state institutions in the coming period.
