The Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi gave directives to maximise the use of renewable energy through green hydrogen projects, in light of the growing global interest in these projects as a promising source of energy in the near future, affirmed Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli.

President Sisi also ordered maximising local components of green hydrogen production system, added Madbouli while witnessing the signing of seven new memorandums of understanding (MoUs) on Thursday to establish industrial complexes to produce green hydrogen in Ain Sokhna Industrial Zone.

The pacts were signed between a number of governmental entities, including the New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA), the General Authority for Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) and the Sovereign Fund of Egypt from one side and seven companies and international consortiums pioneering in the production of new and renewable energy from the other side.

Meanwhile, Electricity and Renewable Energy Minister Mohamed Shaker said that the political leadership gives top priority to the electricity sector, which is the main pillar of development in the various economic and economic spheres.

He further explained that State’s strategy aims to diversify the energy mix from renewable sources and diversify sources of electric energy production by benefiting from Egypt’s natural wealth, especially new and renewable energy sources.
