Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit commended deep-rooted, profound and friendship bonds between the AL, its member states and Romania.
That reflects the depth of historical relations binding the Arab world and Romania, added Abul Gheit during a meeting with Romanian Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca at the end of his visit to Bucharest on Wednesday.
The AL chief hailed initial and firm stances of Romania regarding Arab issues, with special focus on the Palestinian cause.
He said he is looking forward to maintaining the positive role of Romania in this regard, thanking Ciuca for his country’s never-ceasing support for the UNRWA.
Spokesman for the AL secretary general Gamal Roshdi said the talks took up ways of boosting the various vistas of Arab-Romanian co-operation.
The two sides exchanged viewpoints regarding the latest international developments and the situation on the Arab and European arenas, added Roshdi.
He said the talks tackled developments concerning the military operation in Ukraine and its bad impacts on the security, economic and social conditions in the Arab region and the eastern Europe region.
