Egypt’s Minister of Finance, Ahmed Kouchouk, has stressed the importance of expanding the Egyptian-Bahraini economic partnership, boosting mutual investments and increasing trade exchange.
He also emphasised the significant opportunities available to deepen co-operation and achieve greater economic integration for the benefit of both countries.
Kouchouk made the remarks during the third meeting of the Egyptian-Bahraini Governmental Committee for Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technological Co-operation, held in the New Capital and co-chaired by Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s Minister of Finance and National Economy.
Kouchouk said the two countries were looking towards broader horizons for their partnership, building on their strong bilateral relations and close fraternal ties.
He highlighted the potential of the Egyptian and Bahraini private sectors to increase mutual investments, stimulate production and boost exports.
He also underlined the need to expand trade exchange, facilitate access for Egyptian and Bahraini products to each other’s markets and work jointly to overcome investment obstacles, building on the progress achieved by the joint committee over the past two years.
He stressed that bilateral agreements should be translated into development projects that stimulate economic activity and improve citizens’ lives.
The minister noted that Egypt’s fiscal policies had become more targeted towards supporting economic sectors within a framework of trust-based partnership with the business community.
He expressed interest in attracting further Bahraini investments in the productive, financial and technological sectors, while highlighting opportunities to exchange expertise in public financial management, spending efficiency, digital transformation, streamlined procedures and operational monitoring.
For his part, Shaikh Salman expressed pride in the continued development of relations between Bahrain and Egypt, supported by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
He stressed the importance of increasing trade and strengthening private-sector participation in commercial and investment relations.
He also welcomed the agreement to organise a periodic Bahraini-Egyptian Business Forum to enhance communication between the two business communities and explore joint opportunities, alongside deeper co-operation in digital transformation and the use of modern technologies to improve services.
