Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co‑operation, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty held a phone call with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani on Tuesday as part of ongoing consultations between the two countries on regional developments.
According to Foreign Ministry spokesman Nader Zaki, the two ministers reviewed the latest regional developments and efforts aimed at preventing escalation and containing current tensions, amid concerns over the risk of the region sliding into a broader military confrontation with consequences extending beyond the Middle East.
The ministers agreed on the need for intensive engagement with all parties involved in the crisis to encourage flexibility and allow sufficient time for diplomatic negotiations, in order to avoid further deterioration of the security situation.
They also stressed the importance of maintaining close co‑ordination and consultations with regional and international partners to reduce tensions, prioritise dialogue and diplomacy, and support efforts to restore calm and stability across the region.
