Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty on Saturday delivered a written message from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
The message reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to boosting bilateral co-operation and maintaining close communication and coordination on issues of mutual concern.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the three-day regional security summit in the Bahraini capital, organised by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) in co-operation with Bahrain’s Foreign Ministry.
Bahrain’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa and National Security Adviser Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa attended the meeting.
King Hamad asked Abdelatty to convey his greetings to President Sisi. He praised the strong ties between the two countries and expressed his keenness to further develop relations in a way that serves their mutual interests.
The meeting highlighted the strong co-operation and close fraternal relations between Egypt and Bahrain. Both sides stressed their commitment to enhancing bilateral ties and expanding co-operation to meet the aspirations of their two peoples, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ambassador Nader Zaki said.
Abdelatty expressed Egypt’s deep appreciation for the King’s role in supporting and developing bilateral relations across various fields.
He also briefed the Bahraini monarch on Egypt’s ongoing efforts to contain regional escalation and developments threatening security and stability. He stressed the importance of preventing tensions from spreading and triggering further deterioration in the regional security situation.
Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s full solidarity with Bahrain in safeguarding its security and stability. He stressed Egypt’s categorical rejection of any attacks on Bahrain’s sovereignty or territorial integrity, emphasising that the security of Gulf states is an integral part of Egyptian national security.
